Lining
Tonewood Lining – notched spruce lining for violin, viola, cello and double bass building and repair
The tonewood lining is a crucial internal component in the construction and repair of bowed instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, and double basses. Made from carefully selected spruce, this lining reinforces the joint between the top/back and sides, increasing structural integrity while allowing optimal vibration and resonance transfer.
Our linings are pre-notched, ensuring flexibility and easy bending during installation. The notches allow the lining to follow the instrument’s curves, making it ideal for both professional luthiers and advanced DIY projects. With the right fit, lining not only strengthens the instrument but also contributes to its acoustic balance.
At Elit Music, we support the craftsmanship of classical instrument building by offering precision components made from resonant woods.
